About the role

Seatriever International is looking for a Quality & Compliance Officer to join our small, fast-moving team in Cheshire. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for product quality, supplier performance and compliance across our international supply chain.

We are the company behind illooms, the world’s first LED latex balloon, and Eco Air, the world’s first 100% recyclable foil-style balloon. Our products are sold in more than 40 countries and stocked by major UK retailers.

This role would suit someone with strong product quality experience who is methodical, confident making quality decisions and comfortable working with suppliers and factories internationally.

Job summary

Based from our Cheshire office, you will manage day-to-day quality and compliance activity largely remotely, working with factory teams in China, UK colleagues, suppliers and third-party testing bodies.

You will review inspection reports, approve or reject shipments, maintain key compliance documents and help ensure quality issues are identified and resolved effectively.

The role includes one annual factory visit to China, with day-to-day supplier and inspection oversight managed from the UK.

Key responsibilities include:

Approving or rejecting finished goods before shipment, using agreed quality standards and inspection reports
Overseeing product inspections and working with suppliers to resolve quality issues
Maintaining technical files, compliance records and product documentation
Supporting UK, EU and US regulatory compliance across the product range
Managing supplier quality performance, defect trends and corrective actions
Liaising with third-party test laboratories and external compliance bodies
Supporting sustainability, packaging and environmental compliance requirements as the business grows

About you

Experience in product quality control, ideally within consumer goods, toys, packaging or another regulated product category
Solid understanding of AQL sampling, defect classification, NCR/CAPA processes
Working knowledge of UK, EU and/or US product compliance requirements
Confident reviewing inspection reports and making clear quality decisions
Comfortable managing supplier and factory relationships remotely
An interest in or experience with sustainability compliance and recyclability claims is a genuine advantage
Practical, detail-focused and able to work at pace in a small business environment
Happy to travel to China once a year for a factory visit
