Job Description

Senior Project Design Engineer
As the Senior Project Design Engineer, you will take ownership of projects from concept through to delivery. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with production, projects, and senior management to ensure designs are efficient, safe, and cost-effective.
Responsibilities of the Senior Project Design Engineer
• Lead the design and development of bespoke products, equipment, fixtures, and tooling.
• Produce 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
• Risk assessments, including DFMEA, product testing, quality control, and compliance, to identify issues and implement corrective or preventative actions to maintain high standards.
• Carry out design calculations, stress analysis, and materials selection where required.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Design, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service, Studio, Engineering) to deliver projects on time and on budget.
• Drive continuous improvement through engineering innovation.
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical development across the team.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure design solutions meet requirements.
• Support continuous improvement across product design, manufacturing, and QC processes.
Experience required of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
• A degree in Mechanical/Product Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• NPI
• 5 years + experience in a design engineering role
• Proficient in 3D CAD (Ideally Solidworks)
• Solid understanding of quality systems and international compliance standards (UK/USA/EU/Asia).
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes (Product assembly, injection moulding, Prototyping).
• Excellent problem-solving skills with an analytical, solutions-focused mindset.
• Someone proactive, adaptable, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
• A collaborative team player who communicates well and stays calm under pressure.
• Willingness to travel overseas as required.
• Experience leading projects from concept to delivery
